The National Data Protection Authority (ANPD), the body that oversees compliance with the General Data Protection Law (LGPD), has published a guide defining the concepts, actions and responsibilities of agents who process Personal Data and Sensitive Personal Data, including controllers, operators and persons in charge, including examples for a better understanding of the application and scope of the LGPD. Access the guide here.

It is important to note that the published guide is not mandatory and will be updated as new understandings of the LGPD by the ANPD are solidified.

The General Personal Data Protection Law (LGPD) came into force in August 2020 and regulates the processing of Personal Data and Sensitive Personal Data at national level, as well as the international transfer of Personal Data and Sensitive Personal Data collected in Brazil, with natural and legal persons being subject to supervision since then.
