According to the PwC Mergers and Acquisitions Report , the country registered 112 operations in August – 65% more than the same month in 2019 – with startups leading the number of mergers and acquisitions.

Considering the crisis we’re going through, according to the report the focus of the companies that reached this number was cash for their own survival.

Dell’Oso, a partner at PwC Brazil, told Estadão that “Companies had to sell part of their business, take on a partner who could put money into the operation, merge with someone to reduce structural costs, many sold parts of their assets. They started making strategic moves to survive and be able to grow again in the post-pandemic.”

On the other hand, after the withdrawal of the Triple Play and One Innovation IPOs, we have a total of 13 companies that have suspended or shelved their IPO processes. According to the electronic magazine InfoMoney, this is due to “market volatility” and “domestic and international political and economic uncertainties.”
