Electronic Judicial Domicile: mandatory registration for MEIs, small and micro-enterprises ends in September

Domicílio Judicial Eletrônico

Individual micro-entrepreneurs (MEIs), micro-enterprises and small businesses have until September 30 to register with the Electronic Judicial Domicile.

This registration is necessary to receive summonses and subpoenas and must be done through the integrated Redesim system – the National Network for Simplifying the Registration and Legalization of Companies and Businesses.

Companies that are already registered with Redesim do not need to register again, as the integration will be done automatically.

The deadline for registration was established by the National Council of Justice through Presidential Decree no. 178 of May 23, 2024.

It is important to note that registration in the Electronic Judicial Domicile has already been mandatory for medium and large companies since May 31, 2024. Failure to register can result in penalties, such as a fine for an act against the dignity of justice and the loss of procedural deadlines.

The Electronic Judicial Domicile complies with the legal command set out in art. 246 of the Code of Civil Procedure through regulation by the CNJ, which did so in 2022 through CNJ resolution 455.

We are attentive to legislative and jurisprudential developments in order to provide adequate and effective advice to our clients, including guidance in cases such as the one described in this newsletter.
