In August, IBAMA launched the Federal Environmental Licensing Management System (SisG-LAF), which aims to make the procedure for obtaining licenses faster and more transparent.
Through SisG-LAF, environmental licensing processes at the federal level will be computerized and automated and will provide transparency about progress to the applicant. In addition, if necessary, IPHAN, FUNAI, INCRA and ICMBio will also be notified if they are involved in the process, and will then be able to comment via the tool.
According to the person responsible for implementing SisG-LAF, “The system creates a communication channel with the bodies involved in licensing, which makes it easier to monitor the procedural flow and ensures that information reaches those who need it more quickly. We are able to evaluate, through reports, graphs and statistics, how long a request took to go to a certain area and how long it took to be analyzed (…) From the moment the system sends a message to the agency involved, it starts counting the deadline. So we can have more specific control of the demand.”
The system can be accessed via the Federal Government Services Portal, or via the Licensing Portal(www.ibama.gov.br/laf).
