Access to credit is one of the main challenges facing agribusiness, limiting the sector’s growth and competitiveness. Structuring a corporate model suited to agribusiness practices could be a solution to making credit cheaper and more accessible to producers.
One of the major obstacles to obtaining credit is the lack of reliability in the information provided by producers. In agribusiness, this issue is exacerbated because 95% of producers are individuals and often do not have adequate institutional control.
Institutionalizing the activity by setting up a company increases access to credit for producers. This is because a corporate structure generates more reliability and transparency, which makes it easier for financial institutions to assess risk.
