Recent data from the Communications Office of the Minas Gerais Board of Trade (JUCEMG) shows that from January to September this year, there was a 12.1% increase in the number of companies registered with JUCEMG compared to September 2018. In September 2019 alone, 4,986 companies were registered with the Board of Trade, an increase of 33.6% compared to September last year.
Following national trends, the type of company that has been most registered with JUCEMG in 2019 so far has been the Limited Liability Company, with 17,196 incorporations. In second and third place, respectively, are registrations as an Individual Entrepreneur, with 14,382 registrations, and as an Individual Liability Company, with 8,666 openings in the period. This survey does not take into account, for example, individual micro-entrepreneurs (MEI), who register directly on the federal government’s Entrepreneur Portal.
In addition to the competitive advantages of the state of Minas Gerais, such as tax incentives, JUCEMG has an easier procedure for registering acts, especially when compared to the São Paulo State Board of Trade (JUCESP). This is relevant considering the recent approval of the Economic Freedom Law (L. 13.874/19), which creates the one-person limited company, which could have a major impact on the Brazilian market and which will necessarily have to be registered with a commercial board.
