On June 29, the National Health Agency (ANS) published Normative Resolution No. 458, which amended NR 428/2017 to include serological tests for infection by the new Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the list of mandatory coverage by health plans.

Health plans were already obliged to carry out COVID-19 tests, such as RT-PCR, however the NR determines that coverage of the SARS-CoV-2 test – Search for IgA, IgG or IgM antibodies, which detect the presence of antibodies produced by the body in the event of exposure to the virus, must be offered by health plans. This change is due to compliance with the decision handed down in Public Civil Action No. 0810140-15.2020.4.05.8300, filed by the Association for the Defense of Users of Health Insurance, Plans and Systems (Aduseps), and the NR comes into force on the date of its publication.
