On December 17, 2020, Law No. 14,108 of December 16, 2020 was published, which, among other things, exempts telecommunications stations that integrate machine-to-machine communication systems from prior operating licensing.

The new law comes into force in January 2021 and is valid for five years.

The law, as set out in article one, provides for the amounts of the Installation Inspection Fee, the Operation Inspection Fee, the Contribution for the Promotion of Public Broadcasting and the Contribution for the Development of the National Film Industry (Condecine) related to the internet of things. The new regulations should have a major positive impact on the growth of Internet of Things technologies in Brazil, with positive consequences for our economy.
