According to the Regional Labor Court of the 18th Region, a settlement was reached in a labor claim brought by a former employee against a mining company, whose form of payment was the cryptocurrency “Bitcoin”.

In view of the innovations brought by the pandemic to the Labor Courts, the conciliation hearing via a virtual platform was a very beneficial practice for the parties and, thanks to it, it became more feasible to reach this agreement.

The hearing, which took place on the Google Meets virtual platform, was attended by representatives of the company, who live in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates and, with the engagement of all those involved to find the best conciliation, an agreement was reached in the most practical and advantageous way for the parties,

Payments will be made by converting bitcoins into reais, and it is agreed that the company will be responsible for the cost of the conversion, paying any fees charged by the cryptocurrency platform and the variation in the monetary value on the day of the conversion.
