Reducing bureaucracy in the inspection of imports of agricultural products

The processing of imports of agricultural products is undergoing changes. As of October 1, 2020, the use of the License, Permit, Certification and Other (LPCO) model for the Import of Products of Agricultural Interest will be released for the processing of import operations of products classified in the Mercosur Common Nomenclatures (NCMs) – Annex to Normative Instruction No. 91.

According to MAPA, the change to the process, which is only a step prior to the implementation of the new import process (NPI) on the Single Portal and will not yet use the Single Import Declaration (DUIMP), will allow the use of a single system with a reduction in the time taken to clear operations considered to be low risk and with less risk of errors in filling in the forms, which guarantees more efficiency and greater speed in clearing cargo.
