Decree No. 9.393/2018, published recently, reduced the rate used to calculate REINTEGRA from 2% to 0.1% as of June 1, 2018.
According to the government, this measure was adopted to compensate for the losses from the reduction in diesel taxes resulting from the agreement signed with the truckers’ representatives to end the strike.
Obviously, the reduction in the REINTEGRA rate will increase the tax burden on exporters, but other sectors should be alert, as the government has already signaled that other cuts in tax incentives may occur to guarantee the reduction in diesel.
It is therefore of fundamental importance to analyze the impacts of this stance adopted by the government, as well as to be aware of opportunities for other tax credits that can be assessed and used.
