In an interview with E-investidor Estadão, Leonardo Cotta Pereira, our firm’s head of corporate affairs, commented on the advantages of anticipating inheritance, given the changes to the ITCMD (Imposto de Transmissão Causa Mortis e Doação) rules with the Tax Reform.
When it comes to inheritance, making a living gift to heirs has proven to be a safe option for those who don’t want to wait for the inventory to be made. This is because, with the possible changes envisaged in the ITCMD, the tax could become a mandatory progressive rate of up to 8% for all Brazilian states.
According to the specialist, heirs should keep an eye on inheritance issues, as other proposals to increase tax rates have already been raised in the country.
